Hey feelin the pain with omnitel too. The connection has been awful for two months after a month of complaining just getting lies that they are looking into it which are beyond laughable at this stage. Takes 5 minutes to load videos on youtube that are 2 or 3 minutes long and this is supposed to be on a 2mbit line. Cant use any peer to peer applications at all. According to speedtest.net the download is around 490kb but very temperamental and the upload is close to 1mb but it can drop in half just like that (clicks fingers). It just seems to get more and more pointless having the connection by the day
The only reason we're still with them is that irish broadband isn't in the area and there is no dsl despite 4 years of enquires to eircom. Considering how much we pay for equipment and then the connection cant help wondering what the hell they are spending the money on cause it certainly isnt anything that is helping the connection!

Hi - at least you have broadband !
Your work sounds pretty complex - but interesting. In my previous life as a "programmer/analyst" I used to love hacking about with raw data and getting something meaningful out of it. My job title was Programmer - but really I was never very good at it - more of a copy and paste merchant. I liked to Use MS Access to manipulate data and convert it, tidy it etc. I found it really useful and a good tool .
A few attempts by my employer to "upskill" me in XML and SQL server made me realise I was not cut out for that job anymore - so I quit and moved to Ireland. I spend my time between being a "homemaker" and geneating some income from ads and commission off a few websites.
Good Luck with the broadband and your brother.
